Steps
- Find some complex writing such as a scientific study
- Copy the text into Hemingway App to see what the grade level is
- Copy the text into “Explain it to a Child” inside Jasper.ai
- Copy the output you like into Hemingway App to verify it’s easier to understand.

Hey guys, it’s Reed Floren here. And I’ve got a new train to share with you about how to use Jasper AI to take complex information and make it easy to understand. So easy in fact that a child will be able to read your content. So what we need to do is we need to either write some really complex thought, or we need to find some complex information and put it into Jasper.ai. And let Jasper make the information even easier to understand. So first thing we need to do is we need to find some content. Now, one of the places that I love to find interesting studies is a place called study finds.org. And what’s beautiful about this site is they have stuff on all sorts of different topics. And they make it easy to understand.
And they link to the original scientific document, or paper that will share the information so it backs up what they’re saying. So let’s do this one on cancer research derailed by nearly two years due to COVID. So we’re gonna click on that one. I haven’t clicked on this to see. Alright, so you can see that, you know, they made this pretty easy to understand. Now, if I scroll down here, it should give me looks like this one might just be a new story, let me grab another one, I’m gonna grab another one, I have looked at this one before.
So I know that this is a scientific one. So let’s get fit with hit. So it’s high intensity interval training. So we’re going to scroll down here, and we’ll see, this study appears in the Journal of physiology. So what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna click on the study link. And it’s gonna take me to, you know, the actual paper, low volume, high intensity interval training for cardio metabolic health, I mean, come on, that is clunky. So let’s grab the abstract here, because the abstract is really going to give us information.
Oh, by the way, if you need to get more information from one of these scientific journals, you can usually email the people that wrote the paper, and ask them for a copy of it. So these sites, they want to charge you for access to this information. But oftentimes, you can just email the scientist and ask them for a copy of it, and they’ll have happily email it to you.
So that’s a little life hack to save some money on the scientific papers. So let’s grab their abstract. I’m gonna copy this, it looks pretty, you know, nerdy, and I’m gonna drop it into Hemingway. And so let’s just see, yeah, it’s at a postgraduate reading level. So someone smarter than a PhD is supposed to be understand this. Okay, so we have that copied right, now, we’re gonna go into Jasper.ai, we’re going to go all the way down here to explain it to a child.
Now, as you can see, I was playing with this earlier, actually, this exact same one. So I’m going to paste this in. And basically, we’re going to get that first sentence is what I’m going to mess with. So I’m going to grab that sense. I’m going to run it through Hemingway, just to give you an idea that is still postgraduate. At first, I guess it’s two sentences here. It’s still postgraduate. So what I can do is I can output a grade level, I’m just going to put, let’s do first grade. Okay. And let’s see if it simplifies it any. So I’m gonna click Generate.
And let’s grab leads and see how they do. So that’s a great have one. Let’s see, here’s a grade. That’s a grade zero. So like kindergarten, I believe kindergarten or preschool, whatever you’d want to consider that. Here’s another one. That’s a grade two. You can see this is giving information. It’s still really summarizing what that information is. What is just speaking to a level that everyone can understand. And I was reading something the other day, that the typical American, I think it was it was like 54% of Americans between the ages of 17 and 70, or something like that. Read at a grade school level, it was like fifth grade or something. It was really low, it was a lot lower than I was expecting. And so you need to write in a way or have Jasper write in a way that makes it easy for people to understand you and comprehend what you’re trying to say.
